Waiting List Update – Royal Bernese Mountain Dogs
We are making a change to how our waiting list works to keep things fair, organized, and simple.
Instead of separate lists for each parent pairing, we now maintain one master waiting list. Families are placed on this list in the order their deposit is received. When puppies become available, we contact families in order to help match them with the best fit.
This new system ensures that every family has a clear place in line and makes the process more transparent for everyone.
Reservation & Deposit Policy
Why Bernese Conception Can Be Complex
Bernese Mountain Dogs are a slow-maturing, large breed with unique reproductive characteristics:
• Ovulation timing can vary significantly — precise progesterone testing is required
• Their fertile window is narrow
• Early embryonic loss can occur prior to ultrasound detection
• Litter sizes are moderate compared to some large breeds
• First breedings do not always result in conception
Reproduction is biological, not scheduled.
We will never rush, force, or compromise a breeding simply to meet demand.

Reservation & Deposit Policy
- Reservation Fee: $500 (non-refundable but transferable for up to two years)
- Remaining Balance: $2,500 due at pickup
- All reservations will be placed on the main waiting list.
- Selection: Puppies are chosen between 4–7 weeks of age.
- If you commit to a litter and decide to back out, you must notify us before puppies are 4 weeks old in order to transfer your reservation to a future litter.
- After 2 years, any unused reservation fees will be forfeited, as we will assume you are no longer interested.
- The breeder reserves the right to select 1–2 picks from each litter to continue our program.
- Estimated due dates are based on the first day of pairing.
- Gestational period: 57–65 days.
- The waiting list is organized strictly by reservation date.
- If a family requests a specific gender and that gender is not available in a litter, their place in line remains based on their original reservation date.
- Families who pass on a litter will retain their original reservation date, but their selection will occur in the next litter that meets their preferences.
- This ensures the process stays fair and transparent, and no family loses their place due to gender availability.
