Pet Health Insurance Requirement
As part of our Sales Contract and One-Year Health Guarantee, all puppy buyers are required to maintain active pet health insurance for the first 12 months of their puppy’s life. A complimentary 30-day policy is provided at pickup so coverage can begin immediately.
Bernese Mountain Dogs are a large, slow-maturing breed, and like many large breeds, they may be more likely to experience joint or breed-related health concerns as they grow. Maintaining pet insurance helps ensure your puppy can receive timely veterinary care if ever needed and helps support the protection offered by our health guarantee for both the buyer and the breeder.
Trupanion Pet Insurance – 30-Day Complimentary Trial To remain eligible for the Two-Year Health Guarantee, continuous pet insurance coverage must be maintained during the first 24 months. We’ve partnered with Trupanion Pet Insurance to provide a complimentary 30-day trial, giving families time to start coverage immediately and decide whether their plan is a good fit. Families are not required to continue with Trupanion specifically, but coverage with a comparable pet insurance provider must remain active.

How It Works
- Sign-Up:
- At puppy pick-up, you will be given a promo code for the 30-day free trial.
- You must sign up within 24 hours of puppy pick-up.
- No credit card information is required to activate the trial.
- Coverage:
- Your puppy will be covered for 30 days under a policy that works exactly like a paid policy.
- Trupanion will pay 90% of necessary treatments, less a $250 deductible per condition.
- Waiting periods are waived during the 30-day trial.
- After 30 Days:
- The policy will lapse automatically unless you contact Trupanion to continue coverage by submitting payment.
- Trupanion will remind you via email and/or text before your deadline.
- There is no obligation to continue; the free trial is a gift from Trupanion.
